The Department of Accounting within the Faculty of Economic & Management Sciences at the University of the Western Cape is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). The Department offers a three-year degree and a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) towards SAICA’s Initial Test of Competence (ITC).  The Department also offers a three-year degree that is accredited by the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA). The Department currently has a vacancy for an Administrator. The successful candidate will assist with all departmental administrative procedures in order to ensure alignment and compliance with central administrative systems and procedures.
 

The successful candidate will be required to perform in the following key areas, amongst others:

• Academic Administration
• Enquiry Management
• Marketing & Recruitment
• Marks Administration
• Committee Administration
• Financial Administration, including budget administration and procurement
• Event Organisation
• Meeting Administration
• Human Resources Administration
• Reception Duties
• General Administration and Reporting, including office administration, assisting document management, and liaising with service providers, e.g. Technical Services, Audio Visual Services, etc. 
   

• Grade 12 and a relevant three-year post-matric qualification with two years relevant experience OR Matric with three to five years relevant experience
• Proficiency in computer programmes/software packages e.g. Word; Excel / MS Office Suites / Power Point

ADDED ADVANTAGES:

• Administrative experience in a Higher Education environment as well as knowledge of student administration systems, including MAS and SASI

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to adhere to and meet strict deadlines
• Ability to work without supervision and to pay attention to detail
