The Department of Library & Information Science is committed to promoting and transforming library and information (LIS) services in South Africa and has a reputation of offering excellent professional, dynamic and contemporary LIS programmes at both the undergraduate and post graduate levels conforming to IFLA’s professional LIS Education guidelines, IFLA/UNESCO’s Public Library Manifesto and to the BLIS Standards prescribed by the Council of Higher Education.
