The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition in the Faculty of Community & Health Sciences has a growing reputation as a leading educational provider for undergraduate Dietetics and postgraduate Nutrition programmes. The Faculty of Community and Health Sciences is seeking to permanently appoint a Lecturer within the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities: • Teaching and learning at an undergraduate level. • Teaching and supervision at a post-graduate level. • Involvement in general clinical supervision. • Supervision of final year level research projects. • Participation in research programmes, curriculum development and staff development. • Developing government and academic partnerships. • Engaging with communities in relevant activities. • Administrative duties within the department, faculty and the university.
• A Bachelors’ degree in Dietetics. • A Master’s degree in Dietetics / Nutrition / Public Health or related field. • Current registration with the HPCSA as a Dietitian (Independent Practice Category). • Experience in undergraduate teaching and/or clinical supervision. • Evidence of research output in the form of a research publication (s) in accredited journals.
Added advantages • The ideal candidate for this position should be a highly-motivated person registered with a PhD or progressing towards the completion of a PhD. • Proficiency in two or more South African languages. • Experience in research supervision. • Experience in community nutrition / Public Health Nutrition. • A valid driver’s licence. • Evidence of contextual sensitivity and community engagement.
