The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences has a growing reputation as a leading educational provider for undergraduate and postgraduate professional Psychology programmes. The Faculty of Community and Health Sciences is seeking to permanently appoint a Senior Lecturer/ Lecture within the Department of Psychology.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities: ● Teaching and learning at the Undergraduate and Psychology Honours level. ● Teaching on either the professional Master's Clinical or Research Psychology programme (depending on registration) ● Research supervision of Psychology Honours and Master's level students. ● Research supervision of doctoral-level students, if in possession of a PhD. ● Clinical and/or psychometry supervision of Master's level students if senior psychologist status was achieved. ● Participation in research, curriculum development and staff development. ● Developing industry and academic partnerships. ● Participation in community engagement ● Responsible for administrative duties within the department, faculty and the university.
Minimum Requirements for Senior Lecturer ● A PhD in Psychology. ● Master’s degree in Clinical or Research Psychology. ● Current registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical or Research Psychologist. ● Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. ● Three years post-registration experience if the applicant holds an MA degree in Clinical or Research Psychology ● For Research Psychology - demonstrated knowledge of and experience in teaching and/or supervision of psychological assessments. ● Postgraduate research supervision experience (including 4th year BPsych research projects). ● A current record of peer-reviewed publications. ● Knowledge of and experience with teaching related to competencies at the Master's Clinical or Research Psychology level.
Minimum Requirements for Lecturer ● A Master’s degree in Clinical or Research Psychology ● Current registration with the HPCSA in the category Clinical or Research Psychology ● For Research Psychology - demonstrated knowledge of and experience in teaching and supervision of psychological assessment ● Experience in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching. ● Evidence of postgraduate research supervision experience. ● Evidence of peer-reviewed publications.
Added Advantages ● A PhD in Psychology or progressing towards a PhD (for Lecturer level) ● Three years post-registration experience if the applicant holds an MA degree in Clinical or Research Psychology (for Lecturer level) ● Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in teaching psychological assessment (for Clinical Psychology) ● Evidence of conducting adaptation research (for Research Psychology)
