The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences has an established Extended Curriculum Programme whose primary focus is to improve success and graduation rates for students from disadvantaged educational backgrounds. Students admitted in the Extended Curriculum Programme comply with the minimum statutory entry requirements but do not meet admission requirements for the four-year Bachelors of Nursing programme. A lecturer is sought who will coordinate all academic responsibilities within the Extended Curriculum Programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities: • Facilitate theory and clinical learning activities undergraduate level in the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program. • Conduct research and participate in research programmes in the Faculty. • Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision. • Provide academic leadership and administration within the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program. • Collaborate with the Bachelors of Nursing programme team to ensure alignment with and integration of the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program in the Bachelors of Nursing programme. • Undertake curriculum review and development in the Nursing Extended Curriculum Program. • Participate in community engagement and outreach within the Department.
• A Master's in Nursing or a Master's in a related Health discipline. • Experience in ECP teaching and/or clinical supervision. • Evidence in engagement with research. • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse /Midwife / Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse. • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Nurse Educator. • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as Assessor and Moderator.
Added Advantages • The ideal candidate for this position should be a highly-motivated person progressing or registered for a PhD in Nursing. • Experience in clinical supervision. • An additional qualification in a clinical speciality and/or Health Services Management.
