The Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of the Western Cape is internationally recognised for its excellence in teaching and research. The faculty comprises nine academic departments, a School of Pharmacy and a number of world-class research institutes and centres. The faculty offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the major scientific disciplines and a professional degree in Pharmacy.
The Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics is seeking to employ an experienced academic at the rank of Lecturer in the Mathematics, specifically in the areas of Mathematics or Mathematics Education. The Department has an active research programme covering various fields including Algebra, Topology, Coding Theory, Graph Theory, Category Theory, Mathematical Physics, Computational Finance, Numerical Analysis, Mathematical Biology, and Mathematics Education. The Department plays a vital role in a research-intensive university, focusing on both Pure and Applied Mathematics research, as well as teaching mathematics in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and providing undergraduate service courses throughout the university. The ideal candidate is expected to bring experience, expertise,and enthusiasm to this role.
