The Department of Educational Studies seeks to appoint a suitable qualified full-time Lecturer to teach Educational Studies, Curriculum Studies and Practical Learning/Education Practice on the B Ed Foundation Phase Teaching Programme.

The successful incumbent will be expected to contribute top research and teaching in the B Ed Foundation Phase. They will also be expected to serve on Department and Faculty Committees and participate in the Department’s community engagement and international projects.

The key performance areas include:

• Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Educational Studies, Curriculum Studies and Practical Learning/Education Practice
• Participate in scholarly research and publish in their area of specialisation
• Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision in the field of Educational Studies, linked to their area of specialisation
• Provide administrative and academic support at departmental and faculty level, as required
• Undertake curriculum development and assessment

• Master's degree in Educational Studies or Curriculum Studies
• Demonstrate experience in facilitating learning and teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate levels with respect to Foundation Phase teaching
• Evidence of research publications
• Evidence of working with university e-learning platforms using online and blended teaching approaches

Recommendations/Added Advantage

• A PhD in a relevant field or progress towards a relevant Doctoral qualification would be advantageous
• Experience in postgraduate supervision
• Experience in teaching in the Foundation Phase at school level
• The integration of community engagement with learning, teaching and research
